10 best camera apps for iPhone Duo in 2026
The 10 best camera apps for iPhone Duo: manual photo, pro video, cinematic looks and talking-head recording, and what each one is for.

The built-in Camera app on iPhone Duo is excellent, and the rear 48MP Fusion Main and Fusion Ultra Wide cameras record up to 4K at 120 fps in Dolby Vision. Third-party camera apps are for when you want more control: manual exposure, RAW, log video or a specific look. These are the 10 worth knowing. For the hardware details, see our video specs breakdown.
How well a third-party app uses the Duo's 7.6-inch inner display depends on whether its developer has updated the layout for the fold. Apps that are not updated can show black bars in Split View. For the screen sizes involved, see our screen size guide.
1. Blackmagic Camera: best for pro video, free
Blackmagic Camera brings controls from Blackmagic's cinema cameras to the iPhone: shutter angle, ISO, white balance, focus, and Apple Log and ProRes on supported models. It is free. If you shoot video seriously, install it first.
2. Final Cut Camera: best for Apple's free pro video app
Apple's own Final Cut Camera adds manual controls for video and can act as a multicam angle for Final Cut Pro for iPad. It is free and a natural fit if you already edit in Apple's tools.
3. Halide Mark III: best for RAW photos
Halide is the reference manual photo app: RAW capture, focus peaking, a histogram and a deliberately simple interface. It is available as a subscription or a one-time purchase.
4. PromptSlate Studio: best for talking-head video with a script
Our app. The camera apps above help you get a good image. PromptSlate Studio is for when you are speaking to the lens: the script scrolls next to the preview, and in tabletop posture the Duo stands on its own while you record. You can film yourself with the better rear cameras and read from the outer display, which we cover in part 6 of the build log. It is in final development for iOS 27.1 and will be a $9.99 one-time purchase.

5. Kino: best for cinematic video with no setup
Kino, from the team behind Halide, applies film-style color grades as you shoot and keeps auto exposure predictable. It is a paid app and is video only.
6. ProCamera: best for an all-round manual toolkit
ProCamera covers manual photo and video, RAW, and night and portrait modes in one app. It is a paid app with optional in-app purchases.
7. Project Indigo: best for low-noise stills
Adobe's free Project Indigo takes a burst of frames and merges them for cleaner, more natural photos, especially in low light. It is photo only.
8. Moment Pro Camera: best for use with add-on lenses
Moment's camera app pairs with its add-on lenses and offers manual photo and video controls. It is a paid app.
9. Apple Camera: best for everything else
Do not underestimate the built-in app. On iPhone Duo it handles Dual Capture (front and back at once), 4K 120 fps Dolby Vision and Apple Intelligence photo features. See how Dual Capture works.
10. Instagram Edits: best for capture straight into Reels
Edits is Instagram's free video app. It includes a camera with up to 10-minute recording and a direct path to Reels, with no watermark on exports.
The bottom line
A sensible kit is Blackmagic Camera or Final Cut Camera for video, Halide or Project Indigo for photos, and the built-in Camera app for everything quick. Add PromptSlate Studio if you record yourself talking to camera.
