7 best apps for writing video scripts on iPhone Duo
Seven apps for writing YouTube, TikTok and presentation scripts on iPhone Duo, from plain-text editors to tools that read your script back on camera.

With a Bluetooth keyboard and the inner display open, iPhone Duo is a good writing device. Video scripts have specific needs, though: they have to be short, easy to say aloud and readable at a glance while you record. These are the seven apps we recommend, starting with the one that goes straight from script to camera.
1. PromptSlate Studio: best for scripts you will record
Our app. Most writing apps stop at the text. PromptSlate Studio is where the script becomes a recording: write it, tighten it with on-device Creator Assist (it runs on Apple's Foundation Models, so your drafts stay on the phone), then hit record with the same script on the teleprompter. You can switch between saved scripts in a session. It is in final development for iOS 27.1 and will be a $9.99 one-time purchase.

2. iA Writer: best for clean, focused drafts
iA Writer's focus mode and style check (it flags filler words) suit spoken scripts well. It is a paid app.
3. Drafts: best for capturing lines and hooks
Drafts lets you jot hooks and lines as they come, then send them anywhere with Actions. It is free, with Pro.
4. Ulysses: best for long-form organization
Ulysses offers a library of sheets you can rearrange, which suits a series or a course. It is offered by subscription.
5. Notion: best for scripts with a content calendar
Notion lets you keep each script as a page in a database with status and publish date. It is free for personal use.
6. Google Docs: best for scripts you share for review
Google Docs is the easiest option when a client or editor needs to comment. It is free.
7. Apple Notes: best for quick scripts, free
Apple Notes is fine for short scripts, and Apple Intelligence Writing Tools can proofread or rewrite a selection. More in what Siri AI can do on iPhone Duo.
The bottom line
If you write scripts to record them, do it in PromptSlate Studio to skip the copy-and-paste step. If you need review comments or a long-form library, draft in Google Docs or Ulysses and paste the final version in.
