How fast does iPhone Duo charge? The right charger, explained
Wired, MagSafe and Qi2 charging speeds for iPhone Duo, which adapter to buy and how to get 50% in about 20 minutes.

Charging iPhone Duo fast depends almost entirely on the adapter you pair it with. Here is what Apple specifies.
Wired fast charging
Up to 50% charge in around 20 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter or higher, paired with a USB-C charging cable (both sold separately). That is the fastest option.
MagSafe charging
Up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 35W adapter or higher paired with the MagSafe Charger. MagSafe wireless charging runs at up to 25W.
Qi2 charging
Qi2 wireless charging is also supported at up to 25W, so recent Qi2 pads and stands work.
Which charger should you buy?
- Fastest: a 60W or higher USB-C power adapter with a good USB-C cable.
- Most convenient: a MagSafe Charger with a 35W or higher adapter for your desk or nightstand.
- On the go: any Qi2 pad at up to 25W.
Why the battery is different
iPhone Duo uses dual built-in lithium-ion batteries, one in each half, which is how Apple fits all-day power into a thin foldable. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours of typical use. Which screen you use makes a big difference. See our inner vs outer battery guide.
Charging tips
- Expect the phone to feel warm during fast charging, especially while gaming. Our overheating guide explains what is normal.
- Charge in tabletop pose and use StandBy as a clock or widget display.
- The same USB-C port also drives external monitors. See how to connect iPhone Duo to a monitor.
