iPhone Duo Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G and eSIM explained
Apple's C2 modem, N1 wireless chip, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and dual eSIM: what iPhone Duo supports and what it does not.

iPhone Duo uses Apple's own chips for both cellular and wireless. Here is what they support and what changes for you.
Does iPhone Duo have a physical SIM slot?
No. iPhone Duo uses dual eSIM, with two active eSIMs at once and room to store eight or more. Apple says it is not compatible with physical SIM cards. Apple notes the internal space-saving eSIM design helps maximize space for the battery.
Cellular: Apple C2 modem
- 5G, both sub-6 GHz and mmWave, with 4x4 MIMO.
- Gigabit LTE with 4x4 MIMO.
- Apple says the C2 modem delivers big efficiency gains, which helps battery life.
- Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE.
Wireless: Apple N1 chip
- Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with 2x2 MIMO.
- Bluetooth 6.
- Thread for smart home devices.
- Second-generation Ultra Wideband for precise Find My and AirDrop.
- NFC with reader mode and Express Cards with power reserve.
Location
Precision dual-frequency GPS with GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou and NavIC, plus a digital compass.
What this means day to day
- Wi-Fi 7 only helps if your router supports it; otherwise iPhone Duo works fine on Wi-Fi 6 and older.
- eSIM makes switching carriers and adding a travel line fast, without a SIM tool.
- Off the grid, satellite features take over.
Wired
USB-C with USB 3 up to 10Gb/s and DisplayPort. See how to connect iPhone Duo to a monitor.
